SHATTERING INFINITY is an adult, dark fantasy novel at 120,000 words. This novel combines a character-driven plot similar to Hannah Kaner’s Godkiller and Tasha Suri’s The Lotus Empire against the backdrop of a world plagued with persistent, larger-than-life beings as in the animated series Attack on Titan.
A kingdom burned, a nation reborn, a team torn apart by tragedy, and a secret that unites them across time. Gwendyn, a lone island at sea, has been relentlessly attacked by massive serpents for centuries. The Order, Gwendyn’s theocratic government, employs their Guardians to combat them—humans who volunteer to undertake a life-threatening test of worthiness from their goddess in exchange for heightened physical abilities. Diana, Lyn, and Rian are some of their nation’s best Guardians, until a deathly encounter with a serpent breaks their team apart, tipping Diana into religious fanaticism, and resulting in Lyn’s permanent disfigurement and banishment from The Order.
Years after the tragedy, The Order’s ruler proposes what seems like a suicidal venture: to push Guardians beyond Gwendyn’s shores and locate the serpents’ nesting grounds, when all other attempts have failed. When their ruler reveals a stone with mysterious origins, claiming it can repel serpents, Diana kills him with the hopes of using it to curry favor with their god, regardless of if it will stop the serpents. Armed with the stone, Rian escapes Diana’s coup and seeks refuge with Lyn, determined to carry their murdered ruler’s plans through. Rian and Lyn embark on a quest, finding three unlikely people tangled up in the stone’s mystery—a prince, a carpenter, and a half human, half serpent creature—with the knowledge of an even worse fate: the serpents are coming from a world beyond theirs, and it is only a matter of time before their nation falls if they do not sever the horde from its source.
